Sundt began the first phase of work at the Pima Animal Care Center in early 2017. The new shelter will be about 60,000 square feet. Nearly 93 percent of the total area is allocated to functions that directly house or support the housing, care and adoption of pets.

Features of the new facility include fresh air and natural lighting throughout the building, well-designed plumbing and cleaning systems for pet housing areas, an expanded veterinary clinic, expanded cat housing areas and indoor/outdoor canine housing units.

PACC staff and pets are expected to move into the new facility in December. Sundt will then begin Phase 2 of the construction project, a renovation of PACC’s existing facility.
