San Jose State University Campus Village Phase II
Location:San Jose, California
Design Consultants:Architect-Solomon Cordwell Buenz San Francisco
This is the first Collaborative Design Build project for the CSU System.
The Phase 2 project consists of a new Campus Village Building at the corner of 9th Street and Paseo de San Carlos, across from the existing Campus Village Phase 1 complex. The new 10-story high-rise college dormitory houses approximately 850 beds, common study rooms, a multi-purpose lounge, learning center, recreation space and other support spaces on an occupied campus in an urban site.
The building incorporates the campus architectural themes including use of full depth brick veneer at the lower levels, a tribute to the university's original dormitories. The MEP systems are designed to earn LEED Silver Certification.
The team also performed the renovation, expansion and seismic upgrades at the Spartan Complex on campus. Spartan Complex is a group of buildings totaling 176,062 square feet that house the school’s athletics facilities, kinesiology department and indoor aquatic center.
Campus Village 2 is the ninth project Sundt has performed for the California State University System.
