Markets:Roads & Highways, Concrete Construction
Design Consultants:Architect/Engineer-Kimley-Horn & Associates, Inc.
The improvements Sundt made to the Cactus, Waddell, and Bell crossroads will minimize disruptions to traffic, retail, commercial and residential developments adjacent to State Route 303 when the 303 Freeway is constructed in the future. The majority of the work on the project was performed by Sundt crews, which gave the team additional control over the challenging schedule. Sundt placed 6,500 cubic yards of structural concrete for the Bell Road Bridge. The project required a total of 41,000 square yards of Portland cement concrete paving, 210,000 cubic yards of roadway excavation, 26,000 tons of asphalt paving, 8,000 linear feet of storm drain and irrigation pipe, and 54,000 tons of aggregate base course.
