Sundt Construction, Inc. has moved up seven spots become the nation’s 55th largest construction company, up from 62nd position in 2007, according to statistics compiled by Engineering News Record (ENR) magazine.  ENR is the leading publication covering the construction industry.

An employee-owned company headquartered in Tempe, Sundt reported revenues of $1.15 billion in 2008 and signed $932 million in new contracts during the year.

Sundt has offices in Tempe, Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona; San Diego, Sacramento and Novato, California; and Reno, Nevada. The company builds a variety of projects for both public and private clients throughout the United States, including commercial and institutional structures of many types; infrastructure projects such as highways, dams, pipelines and airport facilities; and facilities for the Department of Defense and other Federal agencies.

During 2008, Sundt completed work on many high-profile projects around the Phoenix area, including the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University’s downtown campus, Dial Headquarters at One Scottsdale and several sections of the Phoenix METRO Light Rail system.  Among the many projects Sundt currently has underway are the 202 freeway expansion in Phoenix, Chandler City Hall and the Mesa Municipal Court Facility.

Sundt traces its roots back over 119 years to a small construction company in New Mexico founded by a Norwegian immigrant named Mauritz Martinsen Sundt. The company moved to Arizona in 1929 and today is owned entirely by its approximately 1,300 employees.
