Sundt To Host Fourth Annual Mike Gaines Golf Tournament in Sacramento

 |  Press Release

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (April 30, 2013) – The Sundt Foundation, a charitable organization funded by Sundt Construction, Inc. and its employees, is preparing to tee up for the fourth annual Mike Gaines Golf Tournament, scheduled to be held 8 a.m. on May 3 at the Woodcreek Golf Club in Roseville. Last year, Sundt employees and supporters raised $22,900 for the local chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association in honor of long-time Sundt employee Mike Gaines, who passed away in 2002 from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a fatal neuromuscular disease.

“Mike Gaines was an incredible colleague and friend,” said Sundt Vice President Business Development Teri Jones. “The Sacramento employees and supporters who participate in this annual event do so as part of Mike’s legacy, knowing they are helping support ALS victims and their families through research and other advances against this terrible disease.”

The first Mike Gaines Charity Golf Tournament occurred in 2001 and more than 30 tournaments have been held throughout California, Arizona and Texas since that time. Golf tournaments and other events to date have surpassed more than $1 million in donations raised for the MDA’s ALS research programs.

The Sundt Foundation has been raising funds for Sacramento-based non-profit organizations since 1999. To date, it has contributed more than $300,000 to organizations in the Sacramento area that assist children and families in need. Non-profit organizations wishing to be considered for funding must first complete and submit a Sundt Foundation Grant Application on line by going to www.sundtfoundation.org.
