FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (May 15, 2014) – The Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District recently selected UBG/Sundt, a joint venture, as the general contractors for a new Special Operating Forces Ground Support Battalion facility at the Fort Campbell installation in Kentucky.

Designed by Burns & McDonnell, the new 104,000-square-foot, two-story facility will provide the Army’s Special Forces with training and operations space to support the needs of five active duty companies stationed at Fort Campbell.

The $22-million design-build project represents Sundt’s third project award at the Kentucky installation in less than two years. The general contractor recently completed its first project at Fort Campbell, unaccompanied enlisted personnel housing (UEPH) barracks, on time and within budget, earning it a coveted position among the Corps of Engineers’ general contractors of choice. Sundt was also awarded another barracks project in March 2014.

Sundt’s additional work in the military sector includes construction of Warrior in Transition barracks at Fort Hood, Texas; UEPH barracks at Fort Polk, Louisiana; combat aviation brigade hot refuel facility at Fort Bliss, Texas; and a flight simulator facility at Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Arizona.

Fort Campbell, located on the Tennessee-Kentucky state line, is a 106,700-acre U.S. Army installation that is the home of the world’s only air assault division, the 101st Airborne Division.
