Sundt Promotes Transportation Leader

 |  Press Release

SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 13, 2017) – Sundt Construction, Inc. recently promoted transportation construction expert Chad Yount to Senior Project Manager.

In his new role, Yount is overseeing the San Pedro Creek Improvements project in San Antonio. His experience includes the recently completed Sellwood Bridge in Portland, Oregon; the Valley Metro Light Rail Transit Northwest Extension in Phoenix and the design-build San Diego International Airport Terminal 2 Landside Expansion.

As project manager for Sellwood Bridge, Yount led a team that used innovative solutions to solve multiple challenges. Because thousands of commuters relied on the bridge daily to cross the Willamette River, the team needed to minimize disruption to the community. To keep traffic flowing during construction, the project team lifted the old bridge with hydraulic jacks, moved it aside and set it onto temporary support piers, creating a “shoofly,” or detour bridge. The shoofly cut roadway full closures to less than the 30 days called for in the contract, saved $5 million and took a year off the entire project schedule.

Yount received his degree in engineering management with a focus in civil engineering from the University of Arizona. He is a Certified Professional Constructor and certified in Fundamental Engineering.

Sundt has more than 45 years and nearly $2 billion of project work throughout Texas. Among the notable projects are the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) 911 Dispatch Center, San Antonio; the Career and Technology Education (CATE) building at Brackenridge High School, San Antonio; West Seventh Street Bridge, Fort Worth; Warrior in Transition Barracks at Fort Bliss, Fort Sam Houston and Fort Hood; Reunion Tower, Dallas; Legacy Town Centers, Plano and work at Austin Bergstrom International Airport.
