Sundt Hires Five in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (January 9, 2019) – Sundt Construction, Inc. (www.sundt.com) has added five to its Building Group, California District. Andrew Atkinson, Michael Avila, Jonathan Bultema, Madison Jones and William Rahn join the Sacramento office.

“As our region continues to grow, it’s important to expand our teams with the right people,” said Ed Segovia, Vice President and Sacramento Regional Director for Sundt’s Building Group. “All five of our new employee-owners will bring a tremendous amount of skill and experience that will add value to our existing high-performing teams.”

Atkinson, area quality manager, brings over 20 years of experience including several years as a quality control manager where he was responsible for development of the project design and construction quality control plans. His market experience includes government, aviation, education and commercial projects. Atkinson holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Avila joins the company’s project, Paradise Valley Estates – The Ridge, as a safety representative. He previously served in a similar capacity for another local contractor. His market experience extends to military, mixed-use and healthcare projects. Avila served in the U.S. Army and gradated second in his class at the Stanislaus County Regional Sheriff’s Academy.

A proven construction leader with over 30 years of experience, Bultema joins Sundt as a project superintendent for the company’s Avesta Residences senior living projects. He brings vast knowledge in construction supervision for project startup, permit drawings, specification, evaluation, estimating and oversight of all phases of construction. Bultema holds a certification as a commercial building inspector through the International Code Council (ICC).

Jones joins Sundt as an administrative assistant after serving as an actuarial assistant, where she performed data entry, calculated benefit options, completed tax forms and analyzed data. Jones graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in economics.

Thomas joins Sundt as a project safety manager. Bringing nearly 13 years of experience to his new role, he has worked in various market sectors as a safety manager including energy and gas projects. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Nicholls State University in petroleum service engineering and safety management.

Madison Jones

A carpenter by trade, Rahn joins the project team at the Ernest E. Tschannen Science Complex as a field superintendent. He brings over 18 years of experience in the construction industry with time spent on residential and commercial projects. His commercial experience extends to hospitality markets, office spaces and mixed-use properties.

Sundt has over 70 years of diverse project experience throughout the state of California. The company has offices in Sacramento, Irvine and San Diego. Sundt is currently building the Ernest E. Tschannen Science Complex on the Sacramento State campus and recently broke ground on two senior living communities in Northern California.
