Sundt Foundation Donates Nearly $20,000 to Tucson Charities

TUCSON, Ariz. (December 14, 2018) – The Sundt Foundation awarded a total of $18,500 in grants to nine Tucson-area nonprofits during its fourth-quarter disbursements.  Tucson 2018Q4 Donation

“Being able to live our company’s purpose in the community where we got our start is very important for our employee-owners,” said Randy Rusing, the Sundt Foundation’s board President. “The nine nonprofits that received funding are very worthy causes.”

Fourth-quarter grants include:

Assistance League of Tucson received $2,500 to support their Operation School Bell® project, which provides low-income children with school clothes, a Payless shoe voucher and age-appropriate books.

The Community Food Bank, Inc., received $2,500 to support its child nutrition program, which provides critical short-term food assistance to the most high-need youth in the community.

Haven Totes, Inc., which received $2,000, provides weekend food to elementary school age children from low-income families that suffer from food insecurity

The Primavera Foundation received $2,000 to support its Las Abuelitas’ program in the City of South Tucson. The after-school program offers a free, safe program with tutoring and homework help, a lending library, computer lab, a community garden, snacks and activities for children dealing with behavior and/or other issues that are obstacles for school and their futures.

The Sunnyside Foundation, which received $2,000, offers a back-to-basics emergency and/or flexible funding grant program that has provided over $50,000 for items that fall outside of the district and family budgets.

Therapeutic Riding of Tucson (TROT), which received $2,000, enriches the lives of people with special needs by using equine-assisted activities and therapies to improve physical, mental, social and emotional well-being.

TOP DOG received $2,000 to help people with limited incomes be able to have a service dog to assist them with their everyday tasks. The program is open to adults and children with disabilities who would benefit from having a service dog.

Turn Your Life Around, which received $2,000, is a counseling and recovery center that assists underprivileged clients who are homeless, poverty-stricken, and potentially dealing with issues of addiction and/or mental illness.

The CMB Foundation received $1,500 to help domestic violence victims and spread awareness on the effects of domestic violence.

The Sundt Foundation awards grants quarterly to area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of Sundt employee-owners.
