Sundt Foundation Awards $61,000 To Local Nonprofits

PHOENIX (Dec. 12, 2013) – Sundt Construction, Inc.‘s Phoenix employees have selected 25 local nonprofit organizations to receive Sundt Foundation grants totaling $61,000 this quarter. The Sundt Foundation was established by Sundt in 1999 to give its employee-owners a means of giving back to their communities. It provides financial support to nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and adults. Most grants are made to organizations in the communities where Sundt has offices and construction projects. The Foundation is funded primarily by contributions from Sundt employees and company matching. To date, the organization has awarded more than $5 million in donations to organizations throughout Arizona, California, Texas and beyond. Here’s a closer look at the Phoenix organizations that recently received funding.

$7,500 Grant Recipient
St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance
will use the funds to continue its effort in alleviating hunger across Arizona by effectively gathering and distributing food to the hungry.

$5,500 Grant Recipient
Children in Need Foundation
will use the grant money to provide funds and services to local children’s charities and end-user organizations.

Habitat for Humanity of Central Arizona
will use the funds to build, renovate and repair simple, decent and affordable homes in partnership with families in need.

Paradise Valley Emergency Food Bank will use the funds to provide emergency food assistance to individuals living within the boundaries of the Paradise Valley Unified School District.

One Small Step
will use the funds to provide free clothing and household linens to people in need throughout Phoenix’s East Valley.

Family Promise of Greater Phoenix will use the grant money to provide families with basic needs, such as food, clothing and shelter, as well as provide the tools and training to care for their children, find employment and housing, and become independent and successful.

Florence Crittenton Services of Arizona will use the funds to continue offering a comprehensive continuum of care designed to help at-risk girls from 10 to 21 years old overcome issues of abuse, neglect, teen pregnancy, teen parenting, and behavioral and/or mental health problems.

Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center (SARRC) will use the funds to advance research for autism and provide a lifetime of support for individuals with autism and their families.

Phoenix Rescue Mission
will use the funds to continue to offer hope, healing and new beginnings for countless men, women and children in the Phoenix community struggling with homelessness, addiction or trauma by offering Christ-centered programs, food, shelter, clothing and mentorship.

Maggie’s Place will use the grant money to provide food, shelter, clothing and ongoing support for pregnant and parenting women in need across Arizona.

Starlight Children’s Foundation will use the funds to continue their efforts in improving the life and health of kids and families across Arizona and around the world.

Rosie’s House: A Music Academy for Children
will use the grant money to continue providing music education and mentorship programs to children in inner-city Phoenix.

Duet: Partners in Health & Aging will use the funds to improve the quality of life for older adults across the Valley through a broad range of health and aging services.

Central Arizona Shelter Services will use the grant money to provide shelter and supportive services to nearly 10,000 of the Valley’s homeless each year.

Gabriel’s Angels will use the funds to provide healing pet therapy to abused, neglected and at-risk children throughout the state of Arizona.

Special Olympics Arizona
will provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Leukemia Foundation of Arizona will use the funds to provide support to Arizona families with children stricken with Leukemia, providing them with direct financial aid and support programs.

Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development will use the funds to provide a safe space for collaborating with youth and young adults in Maricopa County who are vulnerable or experiencing homelessness.

Arizona Literacy & Learning Center (ALLC) will use the grant money to improve literacy in Arizona through comprehensive, research-based screenings, diagnosis, and treatment for individuals with language-based learning disorders and auditory processing disorders.

Kids Need to Read will use the funds to provide inspiring books to underfunded schools, libraries and literacy programs across the United States, especially those serving disadvantaged children.

Chrysalis Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence will use the funds to continue servicing the needs of women, children and men throughout the Valley who are trying to break the cycle of violence and abuse.

The New Foundation will use the grant money to provide residential and out-patient behavioral healthcare, as well as education programs, to more than 350 children in crisis throughout Arizona every year.

Sober Living Resources will apply the funds to provide services to disadvantaged adults struggling with addiction issues.

Valley Center of the Deaf will use the funds to empower deaf and hard of hearing individuals to live independently and achieve their personal goals by providing services that are not available elsewhere.

Coalition for Compassion and Justice will use the funds to provide vital services, education and advocacy for those living in poverty throughout Yavapai County.
