Sundt Foundation Awards $14,000 to Local Nonprofits

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Sept. 23, 2013) – Sundt Construction, Inc.‘s San Diego employees have selected five local nonprofit organizations to receive Sundt Foundation grants totaling $14,000 this quarter. The Sundt Foundation was established by Sundt in 1999 to give its employee-owners a means of giving back to their communities. It provides financial support to nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and adults. Most grants are made to organizations in the communities where Sundt has offices and construction projects. The Foundation is funded primarily by contributions from Sundt employees and company matching. To date, the organization has awarded more than $5 million in donations to organizations throughout California, Arizona, Texas and beyond. Here’s a closer look at the San Diego organizations that recently received funding.

$5,000 Grant Recipient
The Angel’s Depot will use the grant to provide 200 free emergency meal boxes, which contain enough food for a week’s supply, to low-income seniors living in San Diego County.

$3,000 Grant Recipient
Hemophilia Association of San Diego County will use the funds to enable struggling families’ children with hemophilia, von Willebrand disease or other disabling and chronic blood disorders to attend a week-long summer camp.

$2,000 Grant Recipients (3)
Walden Family Services will use the funds to support foster families and the developmentally-delayed and medically-fragile children in their care by providing necessary medication and medical supplies, nursing consultant services and emergency funds to help cover children’s medical emergencies.

Restore Our Youth will use the grant money to promote and empower personal growth, academic success and professional achievement to African-American youth.

Paralyzed Veterans of America, Cal-Diego will use the funds to support its sports and recreation programs, which improve the quality of life for veterans and others who have a spinal cord injury or disease by providing much-needed therapeutic benefits.
