Sundt Construction Selected as Subcontractor for Fort Bliss Army Hospital
EL PASO (Nov. 19, 2013) – Sundt Construction, Inc. is performing $24 million in structural concrete services for a new hospital that will replace the aging William Beaumont Army Medical Center at Fort Bliss Army Post in El Paso, Texas.
Hired by the project’s general contractor, Sundt is the concrete subcontractor for six major structures, including a seven-story hospital building, administration building, clinical building, clinical investigation building and central utility plant that will provide power and water to the facility. In a 14-month period Sundt will place nearly 55,000 cubic yards of concrete, fortifying the structures’ foundations, walls, and slab-on-grade and slab-on-metal decks.
“Although we are a subcontractor on this project, we still have the knowledge and understanding to see this project as a whole,” said Sundt Senior Project Manager Sean Lynch. “Our expertise as a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) and general contractor allows us to put together an approach that’s not only beneficial for the concrete construction portion of the job but for the entire project, too.”
Overall construction activity on the hospital commenced in early summer and is scheduled to conclude in November 2016.
