Renovations Underway for De Anza College’s Advanced Technology Center

CUPERTINO, Calif. (Jan. 18, 2013) – Sundt Construction, Inc. recently began renovating the Advanced Technology Center (ATC) at De Anza College, home to the school’s film and TV departments and the division office for Disability Support Programs and Services. The three-story facility offers dedicated labs and classrooms across disciplines, including business and computer systems, digital media and language arts.
The Advanced Technology Center makeover, which began in November, will modernize the building’s HVAC, air-handling units, elevators and restrooms. It also will add new roof insulation, electrical and telecommunication rooms, a Business Computer Science division office, a fire riser reconfiguration and improved building spaces.
The $8.2 million renovation project utilizes LEED® guidelines for material selection. Upon the project’s anticipated completion this summer, school officials plan to apply for the California Community College Investor Owned Utility grant, in which community colleges and utility companies collaborate to help create and implement energy-efficiency strategies.
“This is Sundt’s second project on this dynamic campus and we continue to be impressed with De Anza College’s commitment to sustainability, modern technology and the influence both can have on the learning environment,” said Sundt Project Manager Kristy Weiland.
In 2012, Sundt completed the $36 million Media and Learning Center on the De Anza college campus. Other higher education projects for Sundt throughout California include Tercero Student Housing Phase III and Veterinary Medicine Building at University of California, Davis; a seismic upgrade of San Jose State University’s Spartan Complex; and the demolition of Warren Hall and the construction of a replacement building at California State University, East Bay.
