Sundt Construction Completes Two Projects at Fort Sill in Oklahoma

 |  Press Release

LAWTON, Okla. (Oct. 11, 2012) – Sundt Construction, Inc. recently completed building two Army housing projects at Fort Sill near Lawton, Okla. One facility houses recruits conducting advanced individual training for their chosen fields, and the other serves injured warriors preparing to return to military or civilian life.

The Advanced Individual Training (AIT) complex has room for up to 900 soldiers in two 90,000-square-foot, three-story barracks buildings. It also features an outdoor running track and a synthetic-turf field for physical-training exercises. Sundt’s work on the project included site development for the two barracks, as well as preparation for five additional housing units, a headquarters building and a dining facility that will be constructed in the future.

The second facility, a Warrior in Transition barracks, is specially designed for military members recovering from physical and emotional wounds following deployment. The 41,700-square-foot building houses up to 72 individuals and includes a number of features to foster healing and prepare soldiers for their next assignment or a return to civilian life. With five Warrior in Transition projects complete or under construction at military installations across the country, Sundt has become a recognized expert in this type of work.

“One of the extraordinary things about working on federal construction projects like these is the personal satisfaction that comes from knowing our efforts will serve those who serve us,” said Sundt Project Manager Jim Dravet. “These buildings ultimately will help soldiers perform their jobs and defend our country.”

Sundt’s federal government construction experience includes building exceptional facilities at military installations around the country including Fort Bliss, Fort Sam Houston and Fort Hood in Texas; Marine Corps Air Station Yuma in Arizona; Fort Polk in Louisiana; Fort Campbell and Camp Lejeune in Kentucky; and Camp Pendleton in California.
