Sundt Celebrates ‘Topping Out’ in North Texas

 |  Press Release

IMG_0297DENTON, Texas (September 14, 2018) – Sundt Construction, Inc. (www.sundt.com) and the University of North Texas (UNT) celebrated the topping out of the university’s new Biomedical Engineering addition, located at the northwest corner of the UNT Discovery Park campus.

The ceremony, which commemorated the placement of the structure’s last steel beam, was held on Monday with university officials, the construction and design teams and approximately 200 students from the campus for a beam-signing ceremony in honor of this milestone.

The university selected Sundt as the general contractor for the $12.6 million project, which includes a 26,250-square-foot addition onto the existing main building at Discovery Park. The project will provide much needed space for the growing biomedical engineering program; currently, the program occupies a small amount of office space within Discovery Park.

The new facility will provide two large research labs, three teaching labs and three classrooms, one of which will be a tiered auditorium that seats over 200 students. TreanorHL is the architect for the expansion, and the new facility is expected to be complete in May 2019.
