This is the start of something big.

Sundt starts work next month on a 400-space Stone Oak Park & Ride for VIA Metropolitan Transit. VIA provides public transportation services to 13 cities in the Greater San Antonio Region.

The park and ride transportation construction project is the beginning of bigger plans for the area. More development is expected to crop up around the facility after it opens in summer 2017.

“The introduction of a park and ride facility and transit service will create activity that typically serves as a catalyst for mixed-use retail and residential demand,” said Sundt Project Executive Todd Calder.

VIA is taking the first steps to alleviate traffic stress in north San Antonio with the creation of the park and ride. Similarly, the Texas Department of Transportation appears to be moving toward adding capacity to US 281, including HOV lanes, which will further benefit commuters on the north side. The $18.5 million Design-Build project is being constructed to meet the need for a quick and convenient way to reach downtown San Antonio.
