Michelle brings more than 10 years of experience as a project scheduler, two of which she spent in a senior position for the $2.3 billion Wynn Encore at Las Vegas Phase II project in Las Vegas, Nevada. Michelle is responsible for developing and maintaining resource and cost-loaded construction schedules, as well as training other schedulers and maintaining consistent procedures. We recently asked her a few questions to get to know her better.

What brought you to Sundt?

I was looking for an opportunity with the potential for growth and stability, and that will offer regular challenges. As a senior scheduler with experience on projects totaling over $1 billion, it’s easy to get pigeonholed in similar project specific roles. I’m excited to fill this more diverse role with Sundt.

What’s a typical work day like for you, i.e. what are your major duties/responsibilities?

One of the things I love most about my job is that every day is different. I’m always working on the development of a schedule or two, but my day also often includes researching something, teaching someone some basic scheduling skills, or studying project details or contracts.

What would you be doing if you weren’t working in construction?

It’s hard to imagine not working in the construction industry with my mom still having A, B, and C8 licenses and my dad having been a third generation contractor, but I’d probably be a chef or maybe a teacher.

Favorite type of cuisine?

This is a tough question… I grew up on a boat, so seafood is comfort food for me.

Best book you read recently?

I bought Heaven is for Real about a year ago in an airport bookstore and finally got around to reading it over the weekend… loved it!

Who has had the most influence on you in your life?

Without a doubt, my parents. My dad was an amazing man who had cerebral palsy. He never let his disability shrink his goals or get in the way of accomplishing great things. My mom is amazing enough to have been married to him for a little over 40 years (he passed in 2008). She has been an incredible example for me and others of how to conduct yourself as a woman in construction. Life is pretty great for women like me because of women like her. I worked for my parents as a teenager and recall many situations where she wasn’t treated appropriately. She always handled herself with class.

Where would you most like to travel?

Costa Rica

Favorite quote or inspirational saying?

People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily. – Zig Ziglar

How do you like to spend your free time?

I love cooking, fishing, camping, wine tasting, and hanging out with family and friends.
