This year’s Mike Gaines golf tournament in Sacramento raised $38,000 for the ALS Association.

To many people, there’s nothing better than a good game of golf on a beautiful day – unless the outing also happens to raise money for a worthy cause. That’s the case with the Sundt Foundation’s Mike Gaines Charitable Fundraising Events, which raise money to help find a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

The events were created in 2001 to honor longtime Sundt employee Mike Gaines, who died of ALS in 2002. The annual events— golf tournaments in Tucson, Phoenix, San Diego, Sacramento, and San Antonio, and a trap shoot in Tucson—raise money for organizations that support research to treat and cure ALS, such as the ALS Association and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). To date, the events have raised more than $1.36 million.

Last week’s golf tournament in Sacramento raised over $38,000. Several sponsors and Sundt employees were instrumental in making the event a success, and a lot of fun. There’s still time to sign up and participate in the golf tournaments in San Diego (June 13) and San Antonio (October 10). Click here for more details. We hope you can join us!
