Federal Division. Mission: Support
Sundt has a longstanding collaboration with the United States government, dating
back to 1908 with the construction of medical facilities at Fort Stanton in New
Mexico. This partnership continued through World War II at Los Alamos, New Mexico,
and was followed by numerous Department of Defense projects during the Cold War
including the first launch facilities for the Titan II long-range ballistic missile.
When the country’s space program was in its infancy, Sundt and a joint-venture partner
built Launch Pad 39-A at Cape Canaveral, which is still in use today.
Since the 1980s, Sundt has worked to enhance the quality of life for service personnel
by designing and building military family housing. We have completed a variety of
projects to expand and upgrade facilities at military installations across the United
States and in several foreign countries. The private market expertise Sundt brings
to the process helps our clients achieve the best value in each community.
Today, Sundt’s Federal Division focuses heavily on Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection
measures and has helped in projects including rebuilding the US embassy in Moscow
because of security concerns. Even in this sphere, we bring innovation and sustainable
design features such as the use of recycled materials, energy efficient equipment
and engineering to ensure durability and low maintenance costs.
Our extensive experience as construction contractors with federal projects means
Sundt understands all the accompanying complexities and intricacies of this line
of work. Urgent schedule requirements, the necessity of partnering to secure the
goals of all team members and the importance of utilizing small business are all
conditions that do not faze Sundt’s Federal Division. We continue to work with the
US Government, providing construction expertise in the areas of:
- Military Family Housing
- Heavy Civil Projects
- Unaccompanied Housing
- Operational Facilities
- Emergency Response
- Critical Infrastructure
- Military Facilities Maintenance
