For over 60 years Sundt has been constructing federal civil engineering
projects, including runways, taxiways, dams, and the infrastructure
for military family housing neighborhoods.
Sundt firmly supports the federal government’s commitment to
its users, and shares in this responsibility by delivering projects
that employ innovation and Partnering to achieve the Team’s
goals. Sundt’s continued response to mission-critical projects
has earned it numerous commendations and awards.
One of the most challenging projects recently undertaken was construction of a flood control dam in Los Alamos, New Mexico, to protect a vital research reactor. The facility is located at the bottom of a steep canyon. After a major forest fire destroyed vegetation and left the area vulnerable to flooding, Sundt’s project team, in just 60 days, designed and built a massive roller-compacted concrete dam that spans the canyon above the reactor. For its efforts, Sundt received several national construction-industry awards.
