The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications - 8 KAET was a Build-to-Suit project built by the City of Phoenix for Arizona State University, a public/private partnership. The building is a 223,000-square-foot, multi-level, mid-rise building consisting of office, retail, classrooms and studios located in the downtown core district. It is six stories with retail on the ground level, including shaded arcades under the building's perimeter to foster outdoor seating 'café life'. Offices and classrooms occupy the second story and above that are classrooms and building services. Two television studios with adjoining state-of-the-art digital control rooms for daily newscasts and satellite feeds are located on the top floor. KAET has two studios of its own. The building also has a service core/loading dock within the footprint.
