Health and Welfare Benefits
Sundt has a very competitive and comprehensive set of benefits that are offered to its Administrative and Craft employees. Below is a summary of some of the major benefit plans included in our total compensation package:
Health Care/Vision/Prescription Benefits
Sundt has maintained a self-insured employee welfare
benefit plan to provide medical benefits to its employees since
1981 — one plan is offered at no monthly premium cost for
employees and their dependents. It also offers low deductibles,
a great Preferred Provider
Organization (PPO) network, which allows for additional cost savings
on medical claims, vision coverage, and prescription coverage. Generic
maintenance (mail order) prescriptions are free under the plan.
Wellness is an important focus for Sundt. Our goal is to help our employees and their families live healthier and become better educated better-educated consumers of healthcare. Participants in our Health Plan are eligible to participate in the following benefits:
- Bona Fide Wellness Program: Employee and Spouse/Domestic Partner can each get up to a $300 credit toward their health care expenses for joining a gym, an exercise class, a weight loss program or a smoking cessation program.
- Life Health Assessment: The employee and Spouse/Domestic Partner can get $100 off EACH of their deductibles by taking a completely confidential life health assessment. This assessment helps provide them an in depth report that identifies areas to focus on to live healthier.
- Life Health Coaching: Online or telephone access to personalized health coaches to help identify and remove barriers that stand in the way of improved health and well-being. Coaches may help you with goals such as helping to control your diabetes, lower your cholesterol, lose weight, stop smoking, eat healthier, and more.
- Nurseline: Connects you to licensed nurses 24 hours a day, seven days a week for non-emergency issues.
- Preventive Care: Based on guidelines by the American Medical Association, all health plan participants have $5,000 they can spend a year on preventative care (non-diagnostic) -with NO deductible- This includes items like flu shots, physicals, yearly women and men's exams.
Life Insurance Benefits
Employees are provided basic life insurance and accidental death
and dismemberment insurance.
Long Term Disability Insurance
Employees are provided long term disability insurance that pays
to a disabled employee, 60% of their gross annual salary prior to
a disability.
Short Term Disability Insurance
Employees are provided short-term disability insurance, which is
a salary continuation program that pays a portion of an employee's
pay while off work due to disability. This insurance takes place
prior to long-term disability insurance.
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Confidential counseling and referral service offered to employees and their dependents at no cost, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Paid Time Off (PTO) Program: Number of days given to employees based on years of service with the company to pay for: vacation time, sick leave, and personal days.

Some of the benefit plans listed above have a waiting period associated with eligibility. There is also a 20 hour a work week minimum requirement in order to be eligible for most benefits.
Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
Sundt is an employee-owned company.
Ownership is through the Employee Stock Ownership pension plan that
has been in place since 1972. Annual company contributions based on
a percentage of wages, as determined each year by company performance,
are made to the accounts of eligible employees. Employees are generally
eligible for participation after 1000 hours of credited service during
their initial full plan year of employment.
401(k) Plan
Our 401(k) savings/pension plan offers employees the advantage to
save on a before-tax basis for retirement. With a variety of investment
options to choose from, an employee can contribute up to 80% of his
or her taxable wages to the plan. Eligibility to participate is based
on 1000 hours of credited service during an employee's initial employment
year.
The Sundt Companies provides one of the best training programs in the construction industry. We offer training opportunities for all employees, including the following:

We value learning. Part of the training and development process is a semi-annual Individual Development Plan, which is designed to help employees and their supervisors identify career interests, training and development needs and specific developmental goals.
While much of our training is provided in instructor-led classes and workshops, the company is beginning to utilize the Internet and other technologies to make training more convenient for employees. The company also has a tuition reimbursement program for employees who wish to continue their education at a community college or university.
